PTPRS mediates invasion of tetanus neurotoxin into the central nervous system
Tetanus neurotoxin enters the central nervous system through motor neurons. This study identifies PTPRS as the long-sought retrograde transport receptor that directs toxin trafficking in motor neurons into the spinal cord, uncovering a host pathway that can be targeted for post-exposure treatment and for drug delivery into the central nervous system.
