Can I maintain my creative process without AI, but still use AI to automate tasks that don’t involve creativity and use automated tools?
Hi, everyone! How are you all doing? I’m from Brazil and I’m just a design enthusiast who wants to break into the field. I got a ton of hate on a Brazilian subreddit because I said I don’t want to use AI in my creative process or in my work—not even as a tool—because I don’t see the point in using AI for things like ideas, sketches, and aspects related to the visual design. I’d understand if I had to use it, but I just can’t see the point in using generative AI that creates images. But I definitely want to learn how to automate repetitive and tedious tasks that don’t involve the creative process or actual creation. Things like scaling, quality enhancement, and file organization—I’ll let AI handle those as a tool. It’s just that I really enjoy the creative part—planning and making sketches—because for me, that’s the most fun part, and I don’t know if that’s a good thing. I also find automated tools for creation—like background removers, etc.—interesting. My problem is that I’m not sure if, even when using AI for some things, I can still preserve my creative process. I don’t want to rely on AI to generate images and designs; I’d rather leave that to other functions. Please, be kind to me.
