GitHub Copilot weekly releases — October 5

This week’s updates make Copilot easier to use across accounts and environments, with more control over what agents can access and how you manage their work.

  • Claude Haiku 5.5 is available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users.
  • Limit agents’ access to files, networks, and credentials with local sandboxing, now generally available in Copilot CLI, the Copilot app, and VS Code sessions using Agent Host. This is included with Copilot at no extra cost. Learn more about local sandboxing.

The Copilot app now lets you use separate GitHub accounts for your Copilot license and your repositories. For example, use an enterprise-provided Copilot license while accessing repositories through another account.

GitHub Copilot CLI makes it easier to choose a local model without leaving your existing workflow. Use /model to discover supported models from a running local Ollama instance, alongside your configured models and cloud models provided by GitHub Copilot. Discover local models in GitHub Copilot CLI.

  • View agent sessions side by side in the Agents window. Arrange them in a grid to compare results or follow multiple tasks.
  • Free up disk space with “Open worktree cleanup” in chat. See how much space inactive session worktrees use and choose which to remove.
