If you're having trouble understanding the argument of, "Codex resets are not always a good thing", consider this
If you had 90% use left and your reset was in 2 days, OpenAI increased your reset by 5 days and gave you a bonus of 10% extra use in exchange for adding 5 more days to your reset. If we use nice round example numbers of 1 million tokens a week, it's essentially OpenAI saying "Instead of having 900,000 tokens to use in the next 2 days and then getting 1,000,000 new tokens 2 days from now that expire in a week, we're going to take away your 900,000 tokens that expire in 2 days and give you those 1,000,000 tokens that expire in a week a few days early" That's not a trade that any of us would ever make. In that case, I would rather NOT have a reset at all. It'll never happen, but what would be fair is a manual reset still starting a new 7 day timer, but your previous use being added on to your new 7 day window. In the example case, the user with 90% use left and a reset in 2 days would then have 190% use for the next 7 days after a manual reset.
