The justices debated whether local governments can sue energy giants for harms allegedly caused by extreme weather events that scientists say are tied to the worldwide burning of fossil fuels. Justices across the ideological spectrum noted that state-based lawsuits are routinely used to target other conduct with widespread effects, such as the marketing of tobacco or the manufacture of asbestos. Still, some expressed concern about opening the floodgates to cases against any company that contributed to greenhouse gas emissions.

Bond yields and equity prices often move in opposition to one another—in part because rising yields can drag on corporate profits by hiking borrowing costs. But in recent weeks, they have advanced in tandem as a global bond rout coincides with the unrestrained momentum of the artificial-intelligence investing boom. Nasdaq finished the day at 27,477, about 1% above its previous record in September, while the 10-year Treasury yield advanced to 5.310%.

The planned attack was part of a multifaceted Iranian plot to target the aircraft and kill personnel at RAF Fairford, including American pilots, according to U.S. and European officials briefed on the matter. Vice President JD Vance said the dozen American B-1 bomber aircrafts were moved out of an abundance of caution. President Trump said people linked to Iran posed a threat to assets at the base.

The woman died Friday after contracting “pneumonia of an unknown cause.” Russian authorities have placed her contacts under close medical observation as they try to determine how she died. The Kremlin today sought to play down concerns about the potential spread of an infectious disease, saying the infection was most likely not plague. Sweeping late-September changes tie kids’ wealth building directly to the fate of particular companies, depending on who donates. Stock donations can’t be refused and generally can’t be sold for five years under the rules. With Treasury Department approval, charities controlled by wealthy people can target groups of at least 5,000, sorted by age, geography or both. The Mac helped transform personal computing, while the iPod, iPhone and iPad changed the music, cellphone and digital-media businesses, respectively. In doing so, Jobs turned Apple into the world’s most valuable company with a market value of $350 billion. Just months before his passing, Jobs handed the reins to his longtime deputy, Tim Cook.

His first weeks have brought Apple’s first foldable iPhone and a long-awaited AI overhaul of Siri, as the company tries to find its next breakthrough beyond the smartphone. The challenge for Apple’s new CEO: keeping the innovation engine running at a company vastly larger than the one Jobs left behind.
