Crossbill: a reading companion app to help you to get more out of your ebooks

I love reading and learning but for years I have been slightly frustrated into myself in how often I read a book without really remembering much about it afterwards. I knew with more active reading I could get more out of the books I read. For a past year I have worked on Crossbill to help me with that. Crossbill is a reading companion app which tries to help you to engage into more active reading and spend a bit more effort into your books. The idea is to provide some extra structure for your reading to make it slightly easier to read actively and consciously use more effort and therefore improve your retention and understanding of the material. In other words to get more out of your books. Features are partly inspired by a classic "How to read a book" from Mortimer J. Adler ( summary of the book's key ideas for those interested ) . Lots of stuff from the book is missing but so far the app includes: Uploading highlights from Koreader or making them in web reader in the app Managing, grouping and tagging highlights Create flash cards from highlights and sync them to Anki Create AI digests from book chapters for skimming and reading comprehension questions of them for retention Note system to create personal notes and system to link them to the highlights etc. While the app has been so far mostly developed for my personal needs, I believe it could be useful for a wider audience. In everyday use for the past year it has definitely been useful for me to get more engaged and organized with my personal reading. I am also interested in getting feedback and ideas for the future development. You can check it out here: User docs Github for web ui Github for Koreader Plugin
