Investing - Theory, News & General • Re: Are General Obligation (GO) bonds materailly safer than revenue bonds?

What do other Bogleheads think?

I can imagine risks in either of these potential income streams (G.O. or revenue bonds).

A revenue bond (say a toll bridge) could suffer a drop in revenue due to decreased automobile traffic, or an outright collapse due to a disaster of some flavor.
A general obligation bond could possibly be subject to the whims of politicians. Call it "creative accounting" or whatever, but sometimes there are surprises in tax collections (or the lack thereof). While failures may be rare, I'd rather not participate in any material way.

These are the types of problems I like to sidestep by using a Vanguard muni bond fund.

Regards,
