‘Isolated' shooting at Oakbrook Center Mall prompts heavy police response

Oak Brook police said an “isolated shooting” took place at Oakbrook Center Mall Wednesday afternoon, with an investigation underway and a heavy police presence in the area.

The Oak Brook Police Department posted about the shooting, at Oakbrook Center, about 12:40 p.m.

“There is no current active threat,” police said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

Police also said the mall remains open, with a heavy law enforcement presence in and around the area. Photos and video captured at the scene by witnesses showed multiple ambulances and police vehicles stationed in one of the mall’s parking lots, with yellow police tape surrounding some spaces.
