what do you guys watch more closely: total repurchase spending, diluted shares, or net share-count reduction?

None of the above.

I invest in a simple three-fund equivalent portfolio according to an asset allocation that meets my personal financial and psychological needs. I pay zero attention to financial news, market metrics, economic data, forecasts, etc, etc.

If you ask a Boglehead like me for an opinion about the type of things that you're watching closely, the answer will likely be, I don't know and I don't care.
