Trump’s Former Antitrust Chief Gail Slater Heads to White & Case

President Donald Trump’s former antitrust chief who was ousted earlier this year is headed to the law firm White & Case LLP, according to people familiar with the move.

Gail Slater, who was removed in February amid disagreements with senior US Justice Department officials over merger policy, is set to join the firm next month, according to the people who asked not to be identified discussing an announcement that is not yet public.

White & Case declined to comment.

Since her removal, Slater has been working for the America First Policy Institute, a right-leaning research and advocacy group co-founded by Larry Kudlow, former director of the National Economics Council during Trump’s first term, and Brooke Rollins, Trump’s current Agriculture Secretary, among others.

White & Case ranks 14th among law firms that advise on mergers and acquisitions, according to data compiled by Bloomberg, with involvements in 206 deals so far this year.

White & Case was among 20 law firms that received letters from the Trump administration in March 2025 demanding information about their employment practices with respect to diversity. The firm formally removed language from its website regarding diversity programs the following month, according to Law.com, but it has otherwise largely escaped the scrutiny the administration has focused on other law firms.
