Nvidia launches record $150bn share buyback
Nvidia is launching the biggest ever share buyback by a US company with a $150bn repurchase scheme, as the Silicon Valley chipmaker continues to reap huge profits from its perch at the top of the AI supply chain.
The Silicon Valley-based company said on Monday that its board had approved a $150bn increase to its buyback programme, taking its total authorisation to $235bn. The buyback beats Apple’s record $110bn, set in 2024, for the largest in US corporate history.
Nvidia’s shares have risen by more than 1,200 per cent since OpenAI debuted ChatGPT in late 2022. But the stock’s extraordinary momentum has slowed in 2026, rising around 19 per cent in the year to date, as more investors question the sustainability of the AI boom.
