Trump Says He Expects Renewed Iran Talks This Week, Axios Says

President Donald Trump said he expects talks with Iran to resume this week, even after rejecting the latest Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Axios reported, citing a phone interview with the president.

Trump said the deal Iran wants is something that the US might have agreed to about a year ago, adding that Iran has overplayed its hand, Axios reported.

Earlier Sunday, Iran said it’s awaiting a definitive US response to a seven-day proposal for reopening the strait and other demands it has put on the table, and won’t soften its conditions after Trump rebuffed Tehran’s latest plan.
