for designers, best free video editing app for beginners or worth learning something more advanced?

i do mostly design work, but lately i've been making more motion pieces and short social videos alongside static graphics. for now i've been getting by with simpler software, but i'm starting to wonder if there's a point where learning a dedicated editor becomes worth the effort. tbh i don't really want to spend the next month watching tutorials if i don't have to. every search seems to bring up the same few names, usually capcut, davinci resolve, and a couple of others. i'm just not sure if it's smarter to start with something easy or jump straight into the deeper end and get it over with. trying not to waste a bunch of time learning one thing and then replacing it a few months later.
