Joe Lonsdale Backs Robinhood Meme Coin Tied to Palantir Stock, It Jumps 600%

A meme coin called MONITOR jumped as much as 1,070% in a single day. It's priced not against Ether or a stablecoin, but against Palantir's own tokenized stock, after Palantir cofounder Joe Lonsdale followed the coin's account.

On September 23, Joe Lonsdale followed an account on X. The account belonged to MONITOR, a meme coin trading on Robinhood Chain, the blockchain Robinhood launched this year. Within 24 hours, the token's price had climbed somewhere between 600% and 1,070%, depending on which snapshot you caught, according to flash reports from KuCoin. Its market cap briefly crossed $13 million. Trading volume hit $4.1 million.

That's a lot of money to move on a follow. But MONITOR isn't a normal meme coin, and Lonsdale isn't a random account. He cofounded Palantir, the defense and data-analytics company that just spent years becoming one of the most talked-about names in AI. MONITOR trades against a tokenized version of Palantir's own stock, PLTR, instead of against Ether or a stablecoin the way most crypto tokens do. So when the cofounder of the company backing that equity shows up in the token's follower list, the market treats his name and the coin's price as the same trade. a16z cofounder Marc Andreessen also expressed interest in the project, according to KuCoin, adding a second marquee name to a token almost nobody had heard of a week earlier.

MONITOR runs through Long.xyz, a token-launch platform built on Robinhood Chain. Its pitch is simple to state and strange in practice: every new token launched on the platform gets paired against a tokenized U.S. stock, not against ETH or a stablecoin. Buy the meme coin, and the trade automatically routes through shares of Nvidia, Tesla, Micron, or in MONITOR's case, Palantir. Long.xyz has already pushed over $425 million in on-chain tokenized-stock volume, according to on-chain analytics firm Lookonchain. One of its earlier tokens, Artificial Inu, paired with Nvidia, reached a $325 million market cap at its peak. Another, FLYBRAIN, broke a $30 million market cap after it caught Andreessen's attention too, Odaily reported. MONITOR is the newest entrant in that pattern, and Lonsdale's follow turned it into the loudest one this week.

Every swap on Long.xyz routes liquidity into the paired stock token as well as the meme coin. A rally in MONITOR isn't purely speculative froth sitting off to the side of the real market. It nudges demand toward tokenized PLTR itself. That's the entire design premise of Robinhood Chain: let retail traders speculate on meme coins and blue-chip equities through the same wallet, the same liquidity pool, the same click.

It's also why two of Silicon Valley's more serious venture names showing up next to a coin called MONITOR looks jarring. Lonsdale runs 8VC and sits on Palantir's board. Andreessen cofounded a16z, one of the largest venture firms in the world. Neither has a public history of endorsing meme coins as an asset class. A follow and an expression of interest aren't investments, and neither man has disclosed buying MONITOR or any financial stake in it. But in a market this thin, with a token that launched days earlier, attention from two names like that is functionally the same as capital.

The gains didn't hold in a straight line. MONITOR's market cap slid from its roughly $13 million peak down toward the $7 million range within the same news cycle, per KuCoin's tracking, even as the broader Long.xyz ecosystem kept growing. That's the normal life cycle of a stock-paired meme coin: a name-driven spike, a fast retrace, and a market cap that settles somewhere well below the headline number.

Frankly, this is the tokenized-equity experiment regulators keep saying they're watching, playing out in real time on a coin most traders had never heard of on September 22. Robinhood built the rails. Long.xyz built the pairing mechanism. Lonsdale supplied the headline. None of that required him to buy a single token.
