Significant, probably not, but it gives you control. I also use separate bonds for specific roles in a decumulation portfolio, not in the way the article outlines, but role based none the less. Primarily ST Treas for stability (eg immediate expenses) and LT Treas for diversity (eg recession insurance). I do not use bonds for income. I use total portfolio returns for income.

I am considering a TIPS ladder to mirror income as I delay SS...again, another role.
