Building a native WinUI 3 / .NET 10 Dynamic Island for Windows - latest update with fluid physics & side-edge docking
Hey everyone! I wanted to share Dynamic Edge , a Windows utility I built for Windows 11 and Windows 10 using native WinUI 3 and .NET 10 (Windows App SDK). The goal with Dynamic Edge was to build a fluid desktop capsule and edge dock that feels native to Windows 11, while staying lightweight and responsive. Since the initial release, I’ve added quite a few features: Multi-Tab Workspace Switch between Media Player, Mini-Apps, and Clipboard Shelf using mouse-wheel scrolling or a 2-finger touchpad swipe. Media Controls Live seekbar with clickable scrubbing Audio visualizer Automatically switches between active media sessions such as Spotify, Chrome, Edge, Apple Music, and Telegram Clipboard Shelf Stores copied text, images, and URLs Filters for All, Text, Images, URLs, and Pinned Search, one-click copy, and drag-and-drop Google Lens search for clipboard screenshots Mini-Apps Countdown timer with presets and custom durations Audio alerts when timers finish Stopwatch with millisecond tracking and laps Animation & Interaction Classic, Spring, Bounce, and Fluid Spring expansion modes Magic Shake to toggle the island Customizable global hotkeys Mouse-wheel volume control and instant mute Docking Top-edge Notch, Floating Capsule, or Thin Line modes Left and right edge Blade modes Other 5 languages Custom quick-launcher slots Battery and charging status Native startup support Dark, light, and system themes The app is available on the Microsoft Store: Free download on the Microsoft Store: apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PF1587KSN2K I’d love to hear what you think, especially what features or widgets you’d like to see added next.
