Im painting an an Airforce display plane and have to have stencils made with a font that I cant find anywhere . Should I hire a printing company or recreate a font myself ?

I am stenciling a static display plane and they want me to use the font that was used on the original stencils . I can’t find it anywhere . I’ve gone to a few printing companies and they are taking a very long time to even get me a quote ( months) . I found a printing company that will recreate it and make the 30 stencils I need but they quoted me at $5500. I have a little background in illustrator, should I just try to create it myself ? The original stencils are raised on the plane so I was able to make rubbings of the words. I’ve attached a picture of the stencil for renderence.
