The best thing that happened this week

Better late than never, I finally got around to writing the notes for last week.

On Friday night I had a look at the App Store Connect dashboard and noticed CalAction suddenly had a lot of downloads. Turns out some German company pushed the app to their employees which I think is absolutely bonkers. I have no idea how they found the app, who the company even is, or why they decided to push it to all their employees, but it's a really nice surprise either way. If you happen to be reading this and work for that company, please reach out to me. I'd love to know more about how this came to be.

In the meantime, CalAction received another pretty big update so go check it out and let me know what you think.

Then on Sunday I ran the MS Motion 10k again, for the third time. My wife however managed the biggest challenge of all. She trained for many many months and walked the entire 5k. For someone with her disease and the challenges that come with it, this is a huge accomplishment and I'm so very proud of her.

Playing

I bought Thronefall which is kind of like Kingdom (which I love as well) but in 3D. Really good game, highly recommended.

I also got back into playing Diablo IV on my Steam Deck. I played the new (to me) classes for a bit but they're gated behind DLC which I don't have. I really enjoyed it though, so I think I'll go ahead and get the DLC. It's such a good turn off the brain kind of game for me, especially when I play it on the Steam Deck. I can just sit back and relax while playing it.

Random things

• I got to do a lot of low-level optimizations at work which gives me a lot more dopamine than delivering some big new feature.
• I got a new pair of running shoes (Brooks Launch 12) and they feel amazing. Super light and fast. I'm gonna enjoy these.
• Soon my car (Ford Kuga PHEV) will get the update to its battery management system which will allow me to charge it to 100% again. Good timing with the rising gas prices.
