Investing - Theory, News & General • why i say the efficient market hypothesis is false
first off, it calls itself a "hypothesis" but scientific hypotheses must be falsifiable so we already know it an imposter.
secondly, investors like warren buffett wouldn't exist if they believed the efficient market "hypothesis". so it is defeatist.
thirdly, prices are subjective. and the efficient market "hypothesis" is based on information that is then subjectively processed into a price. does the efficient market "hypothesis" also state that everyone's subjective valuations are accurate reflections of the underlying data?
(and lastly as a bonus, you can sometimes tell a scammer because they usually have a back up plan or escape valve. the efficient market "hypothesis" does that by portraying itself as the strong version but immediately cowering and backing off as soon as it is challenged. just to resume itself in the strong version in the colloquial because all of the versions are referred to by a single name. sounds like a scam to me. it is like a fungus. you kill off the visible part but it just retreats into its roots to regrow as soon as more resources (human minds in the case of the efficient market "hypothesis") are made available. not a good look.)
