Can someone please help me understand what is going on with Vanguard dividend payouts in ETFs with international holdings?
Comparing dividend payout YTD 2026 to YTD 2025 yields the following: (I am including declared dividends for Sept 2026 even though they haven’t been paid yet, all numbers approximate)
VXUS -39%
VEA -31%
VWO -60%
VT -11%
Everything I have read shows international dividends are up in 2026.
Looking at non-vanguard international ETFs YTD distributions confirm this:
IXUS +5%
SCHF +14%
SCHE +26%
SCHC +16%
ACWI +5%
SPGM +15%
Adjusting for to H1 2025 vs H1 2026 since some non-Vanguard funds only pay semiannual dividends I come up with:
VXUS -31%
VEA -28%
VWO -62%
IXUS +5%
SCHF +15%
SCHC +15%
SCHE +26%
ACWI +5%
SPGM +15%
If the underlying holdings are generally generating more dividends YTD 2026 vs YTD 2025 either as individual stocks or in non-vanguard index funds, why the sharp and divergent decline in Vanguard ETFs distributions?
Will this likely be trued up in 2026 Q4 distribution?
