Claude turned my messy kitchen notes into a cut list I could print and use

Quick share of where Claude fits into my workflow in real life. We moved into our house a little over a year ago. It's somewhat updated, but not really our taste. I've been woodworking for a bit, so one of my projects is replacing all the kitchen cabinet doors. I measured every existing door and typed it into my notes app. You can see how rough it is: just sizes and counts, no labels for which door goes where. I gave Claude that note and asked how many sheets of plywood I'd need. I also asked it to keep the door pairs next to each other on the sheet, so the wood grain flows from one door into the other when they're hung side by side. Claude figured out which doors were pairs from the sizes alone, kept the grain running the right way, and laid out all 31 pieces on 4 sheets. When I asked why 4 and not 3, it explained that the tall pantry doors waste too much of each sheet for 3 to work. Then I asked whether I'd still have room after trimming the rough factory edges and allowing for the saw blade. It checked, found the one tight spot, and told me what to measure before cutting. There are cut list tools out there, but you have to enter everything properly and play with them. What I liked is that my notes were rough and it still worked out what I meant. I printed the result and took it straight to the saw.
