You self-host Collabora Online? Come fix the thing that annoys you. Daily calls until 4 October

Hi r/selfhosted! If Collabora Online is the office suite behind your Nextcloud, ownCloud, OpenCloud or Seafile, you already know it better than most developers do. You know exactly which button is in the wrong place and which dialog is one click too many. This month we are doing something about that together. It is called COOL Fest: every single day until 4 October there is an open video call at 12:30 UTC where Collabora developers help anyone get a local build running and pick a first fix. What happens on a call: - Someone shares their screen and we get the build going with them. Most people are stuck on the build, not on the code. - You pick an Easy Hack. There are about 60 free ones right now, from a one-line CSS fix to a small TypeScript change. - You open the pull request and one of us reviews it inside a day. That is a promise. Two weeks in, it is working. One newcomer had their first patch merged within 24 hours of joining Gerrit. A long-time contributor is removing old jQuery from the browser code one file at a time. A translator with zero coding background is setting up a build for the first time. Nothing to sign up to, nothing to prepare, and five minutes is a perfectly good visit.
