My wife passed away… what are my options for her phone/number?

To preempt any questions, she had a surprise ovarian cancer diagnosis and suffered a massive stroke 10 days later due to blood clots, and then passed away two days after that. Anyway onto the point of this post… We’ve had our phones for years (iPhone 13) so I believe the equipment is paid off, but how do I check to see how much is owed on it if it’s not? I think I’d like to just keep the phone and let my son use it to play the games they used to play on it. I’ve seen a few people say that T-Mobile will let you park a phone number for later usage in the situation like this. I just can’t bring myself to cancel her line, but I also can’t afford to pay for an unused phone line right now. Just wondering if any of you knew whether there was validity to this. I did sign up for the free extra phone number a few years back, so I have a whole extra phone number just sitting there not being used and not being charged for.. is it possible to get rid of that and park my wife’s number in that spot? I’m sorry if these are stupid questions, I’ve tried googling, but I’m just kind of getting the runaround. I know I could ask T-Mobile directly, but I don’t know. I guess I just didn’t wanna go through contacting them if it was a stupid thing to ask to begin with. Edit: thanks everyone. For the record, the account is fully in my name, I just added her to it after we got married. So no issues there. Sounds like Google voice is a really good option, if I can park the number and actually still have calls and text forwarded to my phone… is there a way to release the number from Google voice if I want to put it back on my T-Mobile plan when my kid is old enough to have his own phone?
