Novo Partners With Anthropic to Speed Up Drug Discovery Using Claude

Novo Nordisk NOVO.B -0.20%decrease; red down pointing triangle and Anthropic are teaming up to deploy the Claude artificial-intelligence model with the aim of accelerating the development of new medicines, the latest partnership between the Wegovy maker and an AI lab.

The companies said Wednesday that their collaboration aims to address key challenges in the drug-discovery process by developing targeted solutions and workflows.

Novo has entered into several partnerships with the aim of speeding up the discovery and development of new drugs through AI. Earlier this year, the Danish drugmaker said it would work with ChatGPT maker OpenAI, and also created an AI innovation hub with Amazon Web Services.

As part of the partnership with Anthropic, Novo will test Claude Science to help address scientific problems, it said. The drugmaker also plans to use Anthropic’s models to strengthen AI-driven software development, it added.

The companies said the collaboration has been designed with robust data governance and human oversight.
