Apple Is Developing Enterprise Server for AI Age, Report Says

Apple Inc. is working on an enterprise server using its own chips and has had discussions with Nvidia Corp. about using its networking equipment, the Information reported.

Apple would sell the server to artificial intelligence developers, governments and other companies, the Information reported, citing multiple unnamed sources. The product likely wouldn’t hit the market until 2029, it said, and would be offered in two versions: one with two of Apple’s forthcoming M8 Ultra chips and a more souped-up edition with four of the M8 Ultra chips. Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion technology would be used to connect the M8 chips, according to the report.

The effort could still be canceled or go forward without Nvidia’s technology, the Information said.

Shares of Apple and Nvidia were little changed at 9:31 a.m. in New York.
