S&P 500 Futures Climb in Premarket Trading; Brookfield Infrastructure, Avnet Lead

With U.S. stock markets set to open in two hours, Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. (BIP) was up 10.5% in pre-market trading, and Avnet Inc. (AVT) was up 7.9%.

Rhythm Pharmaceuticals Inc. (RYTM), Fortis Inc. (FTS), and Dover Corp. (DOV) were all posting gains of at least 5%. In early trading, J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. (JBHT) and Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings Inc. Cl A (KNX) had posted declines, falling 10.1% and 4.4%, respectively.

Meanwhile S&P 500 futures were up 0.24%, with futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.21%. The Cboe Volatility Index futures were up 9.69%.

In commodities news, Brent crude oil futures were down 1.42%, and gold futures were up 1.29%. Bitcoin fell 0.31% to $75,853.

The 10-Year Treasury yield slipped to 4.975%.

In the previous regular trading session, the S&P 500 and the Dow were down 0.45% and 0.63%, respectively. Stocks in Asia were up overnight, with Japan’s NIKKEI 225 Index up 0.69% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index rising 0.71%.

In afternoon trading, stocks in Europe are up, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index climbing 0.58% and the FTSE 100 Index climbing 0.60% from the previous close.
