Industrial Designer Erina Caldeira's Steel Twist on Woven Baskets

This KŌSA container references the directionality of traditional basket weaving, but here the perpendicular elements do not actually touch. Instead the structure comes from the material: Two pieces of thin sheet steel, seamlessly joined.

It was designed by Japanese/Scandinavian industrial designer Erina Caldeira. Here are some prototyping shots:

Caldeira says it's going into production. She doesn't say by who, only that she'll begin taking pre-orders this month at a pop-up event at the Matsuya department store in Ginza.
