Feeling terrible as a rep

I’m a rep and I was helping an older gentleman and his wife transfer his number from Verizon. 3 lines and a tablet. Long story short I did not know that when you transfer numbers carrier to carrier that your voicemails will get deleted. He had voicemails of his son who passed away. I feel so bad like I feel like it was my fault and I shoulda have known and I woulda saved it for him before porting the numbers over. /: I don’t even know what to do. I tried calling Verizon for him and nothing.
