Investing - Theory, News & General • 10-year Treasuries above 5%
The bellwether US10Y marched above the 5% yield threshold today, marking a point often mentioned by experts as indicating potential trouble for the markets. Investors can now get a return significantly above BLS inflation* by buying a 'safe', intermediate-term government bond.
Does this news suggest any course of action for the average investor, apart from maybe rebalancing more into something like BND or VGIT (intermediate-term Treasuries) out of one's stock holdings? ... What might you be doing with this information (if anything)?
*I think the BLS numbers are fictitious. Gimme 8-9% on the US10Y, and I might be interested.
