Konstantin Grcic's Industrial-Looking Grinder for Alessi
The form of a grinder/peppermill must communicate to the user which part they're supposed to turn. With his new KG01 design, Konstantin Grcic indicates the grab point using a rather industrial design language:

"The transition from the cylindrical body to an octagonal profile intuitively guides the twisting motion," writes Alessi, "while the special sandblasted finish offers an unexpected tactile pleasure."

The body is machined out of aluminum, and the piece is meant to handle salt or pepper. Alessi's selling them for €90 (USD $104), though at press time it wasn't clear if this would be sold in the 'States or not.
