Somewhat surprising comparison (FWIW).

Did a for-giggles shoot out between a simple and ancient Phonic mixer pre (MM1002) and a Mackie Onyx; the ole' Phonic had a much more detailed, open and spacious (stereo) sound to my ears. Would the more complex Onyx topology be mostly about chasing noise numbers?
