🎬 A Video Process of Learning How to Use the Leroy Lettering Set

The Leroy Lettering Set, a beautiful mechanical drafting tool, keeps finding its way into my life. I first learned about this tool when I designed my first typeface, “Parts List,” after stumbling upon a technical illustrator’s 1959 homework at an estate sale and being so enamored by his handwriting and class homework.

Then, Leroy came calling again when I designed my second typeface, Draft Paper, when I was still trying to nail down the look of a draftsman’s handwriting. I’m not convinced that I’ve quite nailed the look yet, but I’m continuing on with the quest, hoping to have a typeface that smells like gasoline and looks like rolled-up blueprints found in a time capsule.

Finding a Set on eBay!

While strolling around eBay, I found a Leroy Lettering Set for $45 with all of its parts! I couldn’t have clicked “buy now” faster. 4 days later, and after one trip to the art store to get some ink and paper, I was on my way to creating a real Leroy Lettering alphabet.
