[I will not promote] Just launched Alpha for my social media app, which was called a tarpit idea 2 months ago

People said that social media platform is a tarpit idea. While it fits some definitions, I want to push back on the idea of competing in a saturated market. Even though the social media industry is dominated by giants, people easily overlook the fact that there is a growing number of users looking for an alternative but have no other choice, because whenever these types of ideas come out, they get attacked until they vanish. That said, the cold start problem is definitely not easy to resolve as habits are extremely difficult to change. In my previous post, I received a great advice about how to tackle it and I will definitely try that. As we are preparing for Beta, we are also facing this dilemma, how much of our core concept or features should we disclose to attract the first batch of power users without revealing so much that we expose ourselves to risk? I guess what I am trying to say is, instead of telling a startup founder to back out just because an idea seems stupid, maybe we can tell them what lies ahead on their path and how to gear up for it.
