A Fast Move, Internet Nightmares, and Getting Settled (Weeks 35 & 36, 2026)

The past two weeks got away from me. We found a new house, moved almost immediately, and have been trying to get settled ever since, so I decided to combine Weeks 35 and 36 into one post.
The vibe
Whiplashed, exhausted, and relieved.
Everything happened much faster than I expected, and moving is never fun, but we are in a better place and a better neighborhood now. There is still plenty to unpack and put back together, but things are finally starting to feel a little more normal.
Highlights
Week 35
- 🏠 We found a new house! We were just starting to look and found one we liked, but I did not expect them to call us back the same day and ask us to come sign the lease. It all moved really fast.
- 📦 We ended up having to move that same weekend. I will spare y’all the boring details, but it was a very fast move. I always hate moving. It is never fun!
- 🏘️ The good news is that we are in a better place and a better neighborhood, so there is definitely that.
Week 36
- 📶 Of course, the internet transition was a total nightmare. It took three days to get the internet back up at the new place. Come on, AT&T.
- 🛋️ We are still getting everything situated and settled in. It is starting to feel like home, but there are still plenty of boxes and loose ends to work through.
- 🖥️ I still need to put my office back together and get my homelab set back up. I am ready to have my normal workspace again.
- ✍️ With the move happening so quickly, I have not gotten much writing out the door. That has been frustrating, but I also know I needed to give myself time to get through the move and settle in.
Worth sharing
- I did manage to publish Security Signal Weekly: August 29-September 4, 2026. It covers exploited SonicWall, Sangoma, and Chrome vulnerabilities, along with identity, vendor, and trust-path risks defenders should have on their radar.
- I did not get the actual newsletter sent this week, but the archive edition is up on the site. You can read .
Things are starting to normalize, so I will be getting back into my usual routine. Be on the lookout for your regularly scheduled dose of cybersecurity news and everything else I like to share around here.
✌️ That is it for these past two weeks. I hope you have a great week and remember to be kind to each other!
