U.S. Markets Dropped Friday; Guidewire Software Fell Furthest
Stock indexes in the U.S. fell Friday with the Dow declining 0.51%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 Index fell 0.38%, and the NASDAQ Composite Index declined 0.29%.
The Russell 2000 Index, which focuses on small-cap stocks, increased 0.26%, and the Cboe Volatility Index was up 0.56%.
Among companies with at least $10 billion in market value, Guidewire Software Inc. (GWRE) posted the largest decline during the session, plunging 19.98%, followed by lululemon athletica inc. (LULU) shares, which tumbled 17.38%. Shares of Fair Isaac Corp. (FICO) tumbled 16.69%.
Sandisk Corp. (SNDK), was the biggest leader, surging 11.90%, and Cerebras Systems Inc. (CBRS) surged 10.30%. Astera Labs Inc. (ALAB) rounded out the top three leaders on Friday, with shares rising 9.75%.
In commodities news, Brent crude oil futures were down 0.24%, and gold futures were down 1.30%. Bitcoin climbed 0.03% to $79,831.
The 10-Year Treasury yield rose to 4.788%.
Stock indexes in Asia were mixed, with Japan’s NIKKEI 225 Index up 1.26% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index down 0.30%.
In Europe, indexes were mixed, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index increasing 0.12% and the FTSE 100 Index steady from the previous close.
