Portfolio Review: what level/titles does my work realistically support?
Looking for candid feedback on my portfolio: micaelakostecka.com I have been designing since 2016, with all of my design work from 2016-2021 being freelance. Since then, I’ve worked various in-house marketing/creative leadership roles while continuing to freelance. Titles I’ve held in the 9-5 realm thus far are Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Manager, and currently Director of Marketing (of which I have worn many hats in small to mid-sized companies, most importantly regarding solo/leading small team creative production of various design, photo, video, ad/social campaign, print, web deliverables). My background is fairly multidisciplinary: brand identity design, art and creative direction, editorial design, photography, reel/video shooting and editing, web design, social, to name the majority. I enjoy working and leading/guiding across each discipline, but I think brand design is ultimately the part I’m most passionate about and want to center my next role/continued growth. I’m currently looking at roles with titles along the lines of Brand Designer, Senior/Mid-Level Brand Designer, Senior Graphic Designer, Creative Strategist, or a hands-on Design Lead/Associate Creative or Art Director, particularly in fashion, culture, lifestyle, beauty, music, or consumer brands. Mainly curious: - What level does the work read as? - What titles would you realistically interview me for? - What feels strongest/weakest from a craft standpoint? - Does the multidisciplinary range feel valuable or unfocused? Genuinely trying to calibrate where I sit and what I should improve next.
