Grilling out this Labor Day? Millions of grill brushes were just recalled

If you’re planning to grill out this Labor Day weekend, you’ll want to make sure your grill brush isn’t part of a nationwide recall.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 3.6 million grill brushes manufactured by Conair and sold under the Cuisinart brand name have been recalled due to the risk of loose bristles breaking off of the brushes.

Those brushes can embed themselves in food, and can cause serious injury if swallowed, according to the CPSC.

An initial recall had targeted approximately 1.7 million brushes for recall, but that recall expanded on Wednesday to include up to 3.625 million brushes.

In their recall report, officials say at least 54 instances of bristles breaking off had been reported, with three individuals requiring medical attention after swallowing the bristles.

According to the alert, the brushes were sold at Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross locations. Amazon also sold the brushes, as did Cuisinart’s website.

Anyone who purchased one of the impacted brushes should contact Conair to get a refund at 888-520-1304. They can also visit Cuisinart’s website for a refund.
