S&P 500 Futures Decline in Premarket Trading; Duolingo, Fox Corp Lead

With U.S. stock markets set to open in two hours, Duolingo Inc. (DUOL) was up 6.3% in pre-market trading, and Fox Corp. Cl B (FOX) was up 5.7%.

Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. (BEP), Medtronic PLC (MDT), and Waters Corp. (WAT) were all posting gains of at least 5%. In early trading, F5 Inc. (FFIV) and Motorola Solutions Inc. (MSI) had posted declines, falling 5.7% and 5.1%, respectively.

Meanwhile S&P 500 futures were down 0.54%, with futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.56%. The Cboe Volatility Index futures were down 1.89%.

In commodities news, Brent crude oil futures were up 1.72%, and gold futures were down 1.26%. Bitcoin slipped 1.26% to $77,923.

The 10-Year Treasury yield rose to 4.784%.

In the previous regular trading session, the S&P 500 and the Dow were down 0.33% and 0.70%, respectively. Stocks in Asia were down overnight, with Japan’s NIKKEI 225 Index down 0.15% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index falling 0.16%.

In afternoon trading, stocks in Europe are down, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index falling 0.66% and the FTSE 100 Index dropping 0.81% from the previous close.
