Russian missile and drone strikes ignite warehouse fires across Kyiv region, no casualties reported

After Russia's latest strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, warehouses belonging to several Ukrainian companies caught fire, according to Member of Parliament Sofiia Fedyna. Footage of burning buildings appeared online, and Ukraine's State Emergency Service confirmed an air attack on warehouses in Boryspil district. The barrage, which began on the night of August 27 and continued into the afternoon, left multiple new sites damaged by Russian fire. Fedyna posted her message on Facebook at around 11 a.m. on August 27, as Russia shifted from ballistic missile attacks to launching loitering munitions and drones. The post stated that the attack ignited warehouses belonging to Epicentr, Roshen, Avrora, Silpo, and Comfy. Information is still being gathered on the aftermath of nearly 24 hours of strikes in the Kyiv region.

Forbes reported that Russian munitions struck warehouses of Ukrainian retail chains. The report confirmed that facilities belonging to Fora, Dom Igrushek, and Comfy were burning. A Fora representative said the fire destroyed a storage facility, while the other two companies lost distribution centers; no employees were injured. It was also revealed that the warehouse had been in use for only a week, since August 23, and that the company has come under Russian attack on three separate occasions. Comfy CEO Hennadii Verbilenko stated that a Russian drone "deliberately" targeted the building, but no one was hurt because all staff had taken shelter.

Meanwhile, the monitoring channel eRadar reported that Russian attacks may have struck additional logistics or storage sites owned or leased by other retailers. Specifically, they listed Epicentr Kalynivka, Alfa Development Group (which hosts warehouses for Avrora, Roshen, Silpo, Compy, Budpostach), and Berger Cargo Ukraine among the affected companies. The State Emergency Service detailed the consequences of the attack in the Kyiv region, revealing that the most serious fire broke out in the Boryspil area near Kyiv. The scale required deployment of firefighting aircraft, extra personnel, Boryspil Airport staff, local fire crews, and teams from nearby villages. Photos and video from the scene show collapsed warehouse walls, thick clouds of smoke, firefighters, specialized equipment, and a firefighting helicopter.

Roshen confirmed its warehouse in the village of Chubynske, Boryspil district, was hit and destroyed by fire. "Most importantly, none of our staff were harmed: thanks to proper safety protocols and timely response to the air raid alert, all employees were in shelter. This is already the second attack on ROSHEN warehouse facilities since the full-scale invasion—the first destroyed a finished goods warehouse in Yahotyn in February," the statement read. Dom Igrushek CEO Mariia Nazarenko confirmed the strike on Facebook. The strikes on August 27 saw Russia launch Iskander ballistic missiles, Oniks missiles, and various drones at Ukraine overnight. Ukrainian air defenses shot down seven ballistic missiles and most drones. Explosions were reported in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Damage occurred but there were no casualties. After a daytime wave of drone attacks, Kyiv's military administration reported damage in two districts of the capital.
