Tom Selleck joins Elizabeth Banks in new comedy series for Apple TV

Tom Selleck has been cast as a guest star in Apple TV’s upcoming untitled comedy series starring Elizabeth Banks. The show, from creators Liz Heldens and Matt Ward, follows Banks’ character Heidi as she navigates life after a messy divorce—only to get pulled into managing her father’s (Ted Danson) retirement-community escapades. Details on Selleck’s role remain under wraps.

In addition to Banks, the ensemble cast includes Ted Danson, Rob Delaney, Katey Sagal, Jared Goldstein, and Spencer Moss. Hamish Linklater, Michelle Buteau, and Simu Liu have recurring roles in the series. Selleck most recently completed a 15-season run on the hit CBS series Blue Bloods, where he starred as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan and served as an executive producer. He is also widely recognized for his iconic role as Thomas Magnum in the long-running series Magnum P.I. Additional small screen credits include the Jesse Stone TV movie franchise and a supporting role on Friends. Selleck’s film career spans decades, with notable roles in hits such as In & Out, Quigley Down Under, and Leonard Nimoy’s Three Men and a Baby.
