Semi truck on Indiana Toll Road crashes into median, splits in two with roads closed

Lanes on I-80/I-94 in northwest Indiana near Indiana Toll Road were blocked in both directions Tuesday morning after semi crash, with photos showing a semi truck rolled over the median and a cleanup underway.

Indiana State Police in Lowell posted about the crash, on I-94 at the 16 mile-maker, at 8:49 a.m.

“Troopers are working a crash on I-94 at the 16 mm which is near the Toll Road interchange,” the post said. “East and westbound lanes are affected.”

Photos from the scene shared by ISP showed a red semi crashed onto the median, with its trailer flipped over and spilling onto the other side of the road. Traffic was building and major damage to road signs could be seen.

No further details about the crash or when lanes would reopen were provided.
