RFC: Don't expand "VS Code" when editing
One particular user has been expanding the abbreviation "VS Code" to "Visual Studio Code" all the time when they edit posts, despite that it's not helpful. I've asked them to stop but they seem to be ignoring me. I wanted to check with the community to make sure my read on this is correct.
Reasoning:
- Abbreviations in titles are fine. They can be expanded in the body of the question.
- Even in a post body, there's no need to expand a well-known abbreviation. I mean, if you google it and most of the results are the intended meaning, then it's fine. Cf. RNG, OOP, IDE, REST API, "app" for "application"... Doubly so if the term has a tag on the question.
- For VS Code in particular, Microsoft sucks at naming things. VSC and VS are related, sure, but not compatible, so the naming similarity is misleading. Visually, I find them easier to tell apart when abbreviated, probably because there's less to parse and they're visibly different in size.
Note: I'm calling this an "RFC" after Wikipedia's RFC system, not the IETF's. In any case, this doesn't need to be as formal as either of those.
