Throw Yourself onto the Global Stage

The most uninspiring way to play an open-world RPG is to stay forever in the starter village grinding low-level mobs, wrapped in a false sense of achievement while thinking you’ve beaten the game. Or worse, staying trapped in the safe zone out of self-doubt, never triggering the main quest.

Now in my thirties, with a decent inventory and a more fleshed-out skill tree than when I first spawned, I’ve come to understand the game’s core loop: if you want a playthrough worth remembering, you have to push your character into the wider world and test your stats on the global server.

In any good game, the most honest feedback comes from global leaderboards and unified raids.

Take Fantasy Premier League (FPL) as an example. I’ve been playing it for nearly a decade alongside roughly ten million other managers each season. Every tactical choice and strategic gamble is tested on a cold, even playing field. Are you an observant, mid-tier strategist or just another novice following the crowd? A ten-million-player sample size gives you an undisguised answer.

Or the CrossFit Open. Now in my third year of competing, I move alongside 300,000 athletes worldwide under the same timer and movement standards. When the clock hits zero, lungs burning and heart rate redlining, that final percentile score is a raw readout of where my strength, engine, and grit actually sit relative to the rest of the planet's server.

A lot of players dread checking those metrics, afraid to find out they aren’t as strong as they hoped. But that’s the beauty of viewing life as a game: it strips away emotional drama and turns abstract personal growth into measurable adjustments.

Knowing your true coordinates cuts both ways. If you land in the top percentiles, you gain a grounded and unshakeable confidence that nobody can take from you. If you sit near the bottom, you lose the useless arrogance and see exactly where to invest your next attribute points.

You aren’t as extraordinary as your ego pretends, nor as insignificant as your doubts whisper. You are simply a player levelling up on a massive map.

If life is a one-shot open-world RPG, don’t waste your stamina comparing yourself to local NPCs or living entirely inside your head.

Sign up for the global raid. Stand at the starting line with millions of others. Explore how vast the map actually is, and see what your character can really pull.

Even if you only climb 0.0001% up that global leaderboard, it’s a real, permanent achievement unlocked on the planet’s server.
