Cyclists competing in the Tour de France Femmeswhizzed past LHC Point 5 on Monday, 3 August. The 139 participants cycled past the home of the CMS detector in Cessy soon after 2 p.m. as part of the third stage of the race.
This was just one of many local landmarks along the racers’ journey from Geneva to Poligny, which took them through the Pays de Gex via Versonnex, Cessy, Gex and Mijoux. Along the way, they also tackled the challenging Col de la Faucille, before progressing to Poligny where Sigrid Haugset (pictured above in her Norwegian championship jersey on the right) won the stage.
