Niche Dating App, how much marketing do I need. I will not promote

So I have an idea for a very dating app, the actual population of people is quite large but the interest is still seen as niche. Should I follow the “build it and they will come” philosophy? Given AI development I am sure I can drive the cost down for this app however I am wondering how much I would need to budget on marketing.
