NBA 2K26 Is Free to Play on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Until August 13 Through Game Trials

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 owners with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can play the full version of NBA 2K26 free through Nintendo's Game Trials program until August 13.

The trial gives access to the complete game and online multiplayer. Progress in modes such as MyCareer and The City will carry over if the full game is purchased. After August 13 at 11:59 p.m. PDT, the trial version will no longer launch unless the game is bought.

The trial comes as 2K prepares to reveal NBA 2K27 on August 18.

What the NBA 2K26 Trial Includes

Subscribers can download the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 version of NBA 2K26 and play the full game, including online multiplayer. Progress in MyCareer and The City is saved if the full game is purchased after the trial.

Nintendo Switch Online is a paid subscription that includes access to classic NES, SNES, and Game Boy games. The Expansion Pass adds N64 and Game Boy Advance titles.

The service also offers free DLC for select first-party games, such as the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Happy Home Paradise for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

NBA 2K26 adds improvements over previous entries both on and off the court. The game adds multiple options to the MyPlayer builder, letting players customize their in-game character with custom layup packages and new animations.

It also introduced the ProPLAY motion engine, which overhauls player collision and momentum, speeds up the game, and adds new options for crossovers and combinations.
