Where are you from and what do you enjoy most about your hometown?

I am from Northridge, California, which is in Los Angeles County. The things I enjoy the most about where I’m from are the sunshine and the amazing food.

What is your research focused on?

I study the antibody response to the bacterial pathogen Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Right now I am also focused on building a diagnostic tool for antibiotic resistance.

What is your favorite part of your research?

My favorite part of the research I do is the community I do it in. There are so many interesting people in my lab and the wider research community. I have learned a lot from them.

How do you relax when you’re not working?

When I’m not working I like to relax by watching TV with my partner, reading, or taking a nice walk around Jamaica Pond.

Tell us about an activity outside of the lab you’re involved in and why it’s important to you

I am a volunteer coach with Jamaica Plain Youth Soccer (JPYS). JPYS is a great, low-cost introduction to the game of soccer and they are really focused on kids having fun. Right now I am coaching 9-10 year olds and they are great!
