Weeknotes 32 - 2026
The best thing that happened this week
This week has been all about wrapping up the last bits of work before I head out for a one-week holiday. It's always very hectic to get everything done, because there's no pushing things to next week. But I'm 99% of the way there now and it's nice knowing I left things nice and tidy for the team.
After a lot of waffling and research, this week we took delivery of our new treadmill. We went for the Flow Fitness Runner DTM400i and so far it looks like a really solid piece of kit. My wife will mostly use it for walking because it really helps with her Multiple Sclerosis, and I will hopefully use it for running but I'm not the best at running on a treadmill so we'll see how that goes.
On Wednesday we went out to a local farm, had ice cream and ate fries. It was a lovely mini-vacation and a nice way to break up the week.
Playing
As ever, more DK Bananza. I've also been playing a lot of LocoRoco and Killzone: Liberation through RetroDeck again.
Listening
Josh Rouse released the first single of his upcoming album. Apart from that, I've been listening to Josh Ritter almost non-stop.
Random things
- The switch to Helix from VS Code has been on hold this week as I've been frantically trying to get everything done before my holiday. It's just been easier to use what I know. When I'm back I'll make a more concerted effort to switch.
- The Garmin Cirqa has been really solid since I got it. I really like the soft material of the band, and how it blends into the background. I don't really notice it on my wrist anymore, it's so lightweight.
- I once again tried to make Obsidian work for me and my brain, but it just doesn't. I think it's a great tool, for other people. This is one of those situations where I want to like and use it, I really do, but I just can't get myself to use it. My brain and Obsidian just can't come to an agreement it seems. Maybe I'll revisit it in a few months.
- I deleted Instagram from my phone, and logged out of Mastodon (which I used in mobile Safari, sans app). It's good to not have unrestricted access to social media on my phone as all it does is give me anxiety.
