Review of Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Having read White Nights and The Idiot first and finding neither of them particularly remarkable (rather tedious for the most part), despite clearly recognizing them as well-written novels, I prematurely concluded that Dostoevsky simply wasn't for me. The treacherous thought that he might even be overrated briefly crossed my mind. Fortunately, all of those impressions changed dramatically while reading Notes from Underground. Never before in my literary experience (which is admittedly quite limited) had I e
