Alphabet Inc.’s Google had $811 billion in contracted future spending commitments at the end of June, up nearly $500 billion from just three months earlier.

The obligations, disclosed separately from Alphabet’s capital expenditure budget, represent purchases the company has already committed to making under supply agreements and open purchase orders. Roughly $200.7 billion of the total were short-term, Google disclosed in a quarterly filing.

The commitments cover everything from chips and data centers to electricity, inventory and content licenses. The sharp increase underscores how quickly Alphabet is locking in resources as it expands the infrastructure that powers its AI business.

The disclosure offers another glimpse into the extraordinary scale of the AI infrastructure buildout. Alphabet on Wednesday said it expects to spend about $195 billion to $205 billion on capital expenditures this year alone as it competes against the likes of Microsoft Corp., Meta Platforms Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. to expand AI computing capacity.
